I met this group of youngsters on Friday in Rugby and spent an absolutely fascinating hour with them talking about attitudes to police, how prominently drugs figure in their day to day existence (not whether they take them, but how freely available they are and whether their friends take them etc), similar question about alcohol and a fascinating discussion about cyber bullying.
Apparently cyber bullying is so prevalent that they all had had experiences of it, as have all of their friends, some of it quite personal and nasty. The ability to send messages anonymously is a major problem.
Cheryl Jones from Targeted Youth Support hosted us.
It is one of the most enjoyable hours I’ve spent in this role to date. This group were a very good advert for young people. They not unreasonably were frustrated by the stream of negative publicity about young people.
