Warwickshire’s Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Eric Wood has today welcomed a report from Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary on the positive steps being taken within Warwickshire on tackling domestic abuse.
“Victims of domestic abuse in Warwickshire should feel confident that the police and their partners are skilled and committed to providing an effective service. The safety of victims is paramount and I am determined to ensure we continue to build on this good work.
“I particularly welcome the fact that Warwickshire Police was described as ‘providing a good service to victims of domestic abuse’ in the HMIC report. This is a real credit to the leadership and all officers and staff within Warwickshire Police.”
Mr Wood went on to praise the excellent partnership working of Warwickshire Against Domestic Abuse, between the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office, Warwickshire Police and Warwickshire County Council.
Commenting on HMIC’s findings Warwickshire Police’s DCC Neil Brunton said: “Warwickshire Police is delighted with these findings but we are not complacent as there is always room for improvement and we will be looking in detail at HMIC’s recommendations to ensure these are further embedded in our processes.”
Sue Ingram, Domestic Abuse Manager at Warwickshire County Council, said: “In Warwickshire we believe that agencies must work together if we are to effectively support those affected by domestic abuse and prevent future harm.
“Warwickshire Police is central to our partnership and we are delighted that HMIC recognise the good service they provide. However, this outcome would not be possible without the hard-work and commitment from many agencies, notably Warwickshire’s specialist domestic abuse services, and this positive inspection outcome is testament to what can be achieved when working together.”
